Draft Artist’s Statement
I use a variety of software (Adobe, Affinity, Blender and Glyphs) in my creative practice. I also enjoy incorporating woodwork into projects when appropriate, usually as a way to present a digital element in a physical form.
Depending on the project, my ideation process usually involves researching designers that are relevant to the brief, to which i develop a suitable working style as a starting point. I generally gravitate towards minimalism and vector art, keeping my graphic design as simple as possible. The work of designers such as Peter Grundy and Mat Voyce is key inspiration for the type of design I want to pursue, with the aim of bringing different disciplines together to create something unique.
Motion graphics is an increasingly valuable skill in the design industry with applications across advertising, social media, typography, web design and brand identity. I want to expand my overall graphics toolkit, using my time in creative practice wisely to learn new software and develop the processes and visual themes needed to produce motion graphics to an industry-ready standard.
I want audiences to experience my work as memorable and distinctive. I aim to develop a style that stands apart from other graphic designers, while incorporating a fun, comedic element where appropriate. Above all, I want my work to spread joy.
